The Research Training Group intends to contribute in the following areas

Part A: Periodic Structures
Addressable Photonic Crystals and Metamaterials:
- Photonic crystals made of SiC (A1)
- Binary colloidal crystals formed by selective H-bonding (A2)
- 2D and 3D switchable holograms (A3)
- Photonic crystal fibers with liquid crystals (A4)
- Ferromagnetic metamaterial (A5)
Novel Structures with Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate:
- Epitaxy of GaN on PPLN (A6)
- Generation of entangled photons in PPLN (A7)
Theory of Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Micro- and Nanostructures:
- Field simulation and light-mater-interaction (AT)
Part B: Microresonators
Emitting Semiconductor Devices:
- Single photon sources (B1)
- Resonant cavity enhanced OLEDs (B4)
Coupled Microresonators:
- Spectroscopy of microresonators with quantum dot emitters (B2)
Er-doped SiON Mikroresonators:
- Fabrication of waveguide-coupled ringresonators (B3)
- Er-doped ringresonators for laser structures (B3)
Calculation of nonlinear optical properties:
- Development and application of efficient hybrid methods that combine density functional theory and density matrix approaches (BT)
