Twelve doctoral candidates from PACE Institute spent two days in Heidelberg. The trip was part of the cultural program offered by PACE.
We first visited the NEC Laboratories Europe Heidelberg. The PACE alumnus Johannes Leßmann together with his colleagues gave a comprehensive introduction of NEC Laboratories Europe. This was followed up by an interesting Q&A session, where our doctoral candidates get an idea of research departments of a private enterprise. After the company visit, we walked to the old city of Heidelberg, where we had our group dinner in a former brewery, a very pleasant and cheerful restaurant.
Next day, we had a guided old city walking tour with boat trip. We enjoyed the old town and learned a lot about Heidelberg's history and student’s life in the past centuries and while the boat passed the city skyline of Heidelberg, our guide explained us more about the castle and the environments of Heidelberg. After two days of many different impressions – both from career- and cultural aspects – we returned to Paderborn.
