T4.1 A Culture of Learning Organization as HR Strategy

Mistakes are challenges for learning organizations: First, mistakes are associated with inferior work performance. Secondly, digital assistance systems are aimed precisely at avoiding errors or are able, thanks to their strong networking, to pass on errors in the course of operations to the process control system without the involvement of any persons involved.
This can lead to (a) that individuals are trying to avoid situations with error potential and therefore are restricted in their ability to perform, (b) learning-inhibiting leadership behaviour occurring or
(c) error experiences, which would be important for a deeper understanding of correlations, being suppressed by assistance systems.
in this work field, based on the results of the Forschungskolleg on corporate cultures conducive to learning, suitable management structures and handling practices of a digital or analogous conducive to learning handling with errors  are examined.

T4.2 Individual competence development

Along the topics dealt with in field 4.1, it shall be examined from the perspective of the individuals which generalisable behavioural, cognitive and emotional indicators of learning, knowledge and ability can be identified and tested at the workplace. These indicators will be used as variables for the digital twin. In addition, it will be investigated to what extent negative knowledge as a result of learning from mistakes can be integrated into process descriptions. Finally, process descriptions are to be developed that tolerate deviations and reflect them back into the work process as learning opportunities for employees.

T4.3 Individual and in-service training

The aim of this field of work is to empirically clarify which forms and contents of continuing education are appropriate for different types of jobs in digitisation. An innovative methodology was successfully developed in the Fortschrittkolleg to work out the competence requirements of workplaces from employee survey data. In addition, a typology of relevant technologies was successfully further developed. At the Forschungskolleg, this preliminary work is to be transformed into a primary survey in companies. Employee surveys at the workplace are to be combined with expert interviews (members of the works council, master craftsman level). The findings promise to formulate statements on the need for further training differentiated according to jobs and technologies.
